The Cloud Security Alliance integrates AIUC-1 in STAR registry to extend AI assurance leadership

The designation of AIUC-1 makes it easy for enterprises to identify providers that have demonstrated safe, secure, and reliable AI agents validated by technical controls and comprehensive red-teaming. AIUC-1 and ISO 42001 are the only standards designated STAR Level 2 by CSA

Today, AIUC-1 extends the collaboration with the Cloud Security Alliance (CSA), the world's leading not-for-profit organization committed to AI, cloud, and Zero Trust cybersecurity education, that addresses the growing demand for verifiable assurance of AI agents and autonomous AI systems.

The announcement builds on the previous work integrating AIUC-1 and the CSA AI Controls Matrix, which is publicly available in the CSA AICM bundle.

AIUC-1 designated CSA STAR Level 2 alongside ISO/IEC 42001

CSA’s Security, Trust, Assurance and Risk (STAR) Registry makes it easy for enterprises to assess the trustworthiness of a provider’s AI agents. AIUC-1 Certification now qualifies companies for the STAR Registry, meaning companies that complete the more technical AIUC-1 audit earn the same designation as those that complete the more governance-focused ISO 42001 attestation.

“As organizations increasingly rely on AI agents to make decisions, access sensitive data, and automate critical business processes, they need a clear way to identify providers that have demonstrated a commitment to responsible AI agent development and governance, through the third-party validation of secure technical and effective operational controls," said Jim Reavis, CEO and co-founder of the Cloud Security Alliance. "By recognizing AIUC-1 certified organizations within the STAR Registry, CSA is creating a trusted resource for companies to identify partners that have independently validated their approach to secure, transparent, and trustworthy AI."

The STAR Registry is publicly accessible, with STAR and STAR for AI encompassing the key principles of transparency, rigorous auditing, and harmonization of standards outlined in the Cloud Controls Matrix (CCM) and AI Controls Matrix (AICM).

"As organizations increasingly depend on AI agents to power critical business functions, trust must be built on independently validated controls” said Emil Bender Lassen, Standards Lead, AIUC. “By bringing together AIUC-1's rigorous certification standard with the industry-leading visibility and credibility of the CSA STAR Registry, we're creating a clearer and more efficient path for organizations to showcase their commitment to building responsible and secure AI. This collaboration helps reduce complexity, promotes consistency across assurance frameworks, and ultimately gives customers, regulators, and business partners greater confidence in the AI systems they rely on."
